AirPlay speaker names have gone weird

Hi fellow SMUGgers,
We have recently replaced our HomePods with a pair of KEF LSX speakers. I gave them the name of KEFs in the Home app and all was well. They appeared as KEFs in the Home app, in the KEF Control app and in any AirPlay list of available destinations. It’s been like this for around two weeks.
Yesterday, I went to choose them for output and instead of KEFs, what I now see is eDMP3.9_CE2. However, in the KEF Control app they still appear as KEFs as they do within the Home app. I’ve renamed them in the Home app as I did originally but it’s made no difference.
Despite the name, I’m listening to them now and they work just fine. But I mean, what on Earth has got into them? Any ideas on how to fix this weirdness?
To my knowledge there has been no update of any kind to anything. And no, I’ve not rebooted anything yet … 😉
