Safari opening unwanted window

Hi lovely SMUGgers,

I have four profiles set on Safari. On my Mac it seems that whenever I make Safari active (if it’s been hidden say) it opens a new window with one of the profiles selected. I have checked Safari's general preferences and Profiles and can see no reason why it persists in this irritating behaviour.

Any ideas how I can stop it?
