Hello everyone,

I know it’s lazy do nothing time (if you’re lucky) but wondered if anyone knows the answer to this.

Currently upstairs we have an AirPort Extreme connected to our modem and downstairs an airport express connected to the Airport extreme network and the stereo connected to the airport express.

If we replaced the modem & AirPort Extreme with a different make of modem/WiFi router can the airport express downstairs still connect to it and allow us to continue using AirPlay to play music through the stereo?

Any help appreciated.

Wishing everyone all the best wishes of the season and thanks for all your help and chats over 2019.

Stephen

Airplay doesn’t require Apple hardware for the networking side of it, so an airport express will happily join the WiFi network of any router and make itself available to iTunes
