Friends

I'd really like to use DDG instead of Google for some safer searching. But, is there a command line I can enter into Terminal that would mean it uses DDG and not Google when I search in the address bar (a really quick and handy feature)?

And also, to command line to go back to Google should I prefer?

Thanks

AP

Thanks Tony, yes I have that, but was keen to hack into the Address Bar search rather than clutter the window.

BUT, never fear, Alfred to the rescue. I have a simple search string in that and it's perfect.

Job done!

Thanks

Yes it works from the Address Bar - check the DDG extension settings.

Safari Preferences, then extensions, and select the DDG extension - should see the settings details.

Hmm, am I missing something here? I can make it add its own little bar to the menu bar, but can't make Safari search with DDG automatically when I just start typing in the address bar?

Can't see a setting for that?

I thought the little bar added to the menu bar WAS the solution! I was really pleased with it ...!!

These are the settings I have which means that  typing a search ion the Address Bar uses DDG.

You do have to enable the extension which I have disabled for the  moment.

Thanks ENORMOUSLY for taking the time to do that Tony.

I've solved my problem!

The extension I had was an unofficial one from way back, before DDG released their own! I have now installed it and ta-da!

Wonderful!

Thanks again,

Adam
