Morning SMUGS,

We want to get an ultra-wide 34” display for our 2018 Mac mini. Does anybody have any suggestions or advice?

I have to say I’m somewhat confused by monitor specs in terms of resolution and refresh rate so some guidance would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Phil

What will you mainly be using it for? Gaming, movies and general work have differing requirements

https://www.amazon.co.uk/HUAWEI-MateView-Ultrawide-Curved-Monitor/dp/B09C6G82ZH looks fairly high-end, with a max 165Hz refresh rate and is curved
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-LS34J552WQRXXU-Ultra-1440p-Monitor/dp/B08WWMN66K/ has a 75Hz refresh rate but that’ll be more than enough for streaming video and working

I used a 30” Dell LCD display at 5k with 60hz refresh rate, connected to my laptop with a USB-C DisplayPort and it’s wonderful quality

Hi Sam,

The display will be used for audio production (mostly Logic & Pro Tools), illustration/page layout and 3D CAD. I’m not keen on the idea of a curved display – we really need straight lines to be straight!

Cheers
Phil
