Printer won’t scan

My Canon TS5050 which has behaved beautifully over the past 3 years has decided not to scan.  I get error message :

Scanner reported an error
A required file is missing or corrupted, 
or settings are incorrect.  
Try the installation again.

Can Smuggers advise me how to do this?  I have looked at IJ Scan utility but am none the wiser.  How do I install the scanner again?

Hi Virginia

Turn the device off.  Remove from computer from settings.  turn it back on, click the + button and comp should "see" it.  Then see if that works.

Canon also have an app for both iOS and Android to access printer admin functions from your phone which is often handy if your device is connected over wifi rather than USB.

Try downloading the latest drivers from here : https://www.canon.co.uk/support/consumer_products/products/fax__multifunctionals/inkjet/pixma_ts_series/pixma-ts5050.html?type=drivers&language=en&os=macos%2011.0%20(big%20sur)

Install both the scanning & printer drivers then optionally restart and see if it works again.
