iTunes alternative?

Hi all,

I wondered if anyone had an alternative to iTunes that I could use to manage my music collection?  I've inherited a perfectly serviceable 120GB iPod and - for reasons I won't go into - I can't face the rigmarole involved in using iTunes to get my music onto it.

Any recommendations appreciated.

Thanks

Rob

Try Sonarworks Tru-Fi.

The sound through headphones is astounding.

Thanks but that seems to focus on sound, rather than music management?

I’m trying out TIDAL – https://tidal.com

The sound via Blue Tooth to my new Samsung Sound Bar HWN850 (13 speakers and a subwoofer) is great.
The offer a 30-day free trial.

Hi everyone

I believe iTunes is expecting a major overhaul soonish so you could wait for now. I too am sick of songs disappearing from my hard drive (I have an elaborate back up system) and crap like movies being rebranded tv shows. All the alternatives I’ve found are sound-focussed.

The only thing that might work is DEVONthink but it’s a document manager - might be expensive for your needs and you’d need to spend a bit of time getting used to it (eg indexing rather than importing). Also it sits on top of Finder attributes (so if you rearrrange stuff in devonthink that doesn’t mean it’s changed in Finder). What exactly are you trying to do, just have them in orderly folders?

Imazing might export from the device into neat folders if that’s the case.

Thanks,

    -Jason

Sorry, I had misread! You mean something that would sync the music into the iPod? That would be a simple copy exercise into an app, I’d have thought (eg VLC)

Thanks,

Cheers for the suggestions, all. I think I'm going to stick with iTunes for now and see what the new version brings. I can use Waltr to manually move stuff if I need to.
