Searching in Apple Mail 5 (desktop)

I search my Mail regularly to call up past conversations.

The old Mail had a feature where one could search for a name, and filter by 'To' 'From' 'Message Contains' etc... is this now gone?

I seem limited to only All, Inbox, Trash, Sent?

It takes me ages to find anything at all now?

Any helpers please?

STOP PRESS!!!!

It seems they've added a stage to the search.

If I type the name into the search box, then select the suggested name from the drop down 'People' it THEN offers me a drop down list to select From or To.

Phew!

Yes they're called search tokens, you can skip that step by just typing "from: mac98aop" and it'll pull in anything from you.

They work in the finder too, "name:this file" shows anything called this file.

Wow! That's SUCH a useful tip Sam, thank you. I'm a big keyboard user and mouse minimiser (Alfred etc) and things like that all help!

Do you fancy posting a weekly Tips from Sam to the forum?!?!

You're right, I've gleaned lots of tips from Sam in reading his replies to all the posts!
