Hi all,
My back up Macbook Pro (7.1) will no longer join any WIFI networks that require passwords.
I have gone as far as reinstalling the OS (10.8.5) Every network I try and join comes back as incorrect password despite me showing the password in all cases and it is correct.
Additionally I get an error (102) when trying to install updates.
Has anyone had an issue like the and resolved it?
TIA
Simon

I’d recommend upgrading to 10.11 at the earliest, is there a reason you’re still using 10.8?

Hi Sam,
Only because I have media for that version and my Mac won’t take Mojave and I can’t find previous version that are easy to download other than that.

El Cap https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT206886
Sierra https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT208202

Each link will only work if it’s the latest version for your Mac. So if it’a capable of running High Sierra you can’t install El Capitan.

Regards

Sam

bit of a long shot but have you tried an SMC reset?

And Simon, I'm not sure what diffs there are in horsepower between 7,1 and 8,1, but I'm on the latter with a Crucial SSD and it's running High Sierra like a dream. That won't resolve your media issues, but to reassure you about system performance (it's the SSD that makes the difference, Sam assures me!)

Hope you resolve it.

Hi All, I’ve tried the SMC reset but the green light doesn’t go off so I’m not sure it’s working.
I’ tried installing High Sierra, the installation failed.
When i try to install it again the App store says it’s installed despite about my mac saying i’m on 10.6
I click install installation in launchpad but it fails every time.
Woe is me
