Given that Big Sur is released to the public tomorrow and given that Catalina has not been a great success (memory hungry I believe), has anyone an opinion on whether it will be beneficial to update to Big Sur in the next few days?
It seems to have many new features which will take a bit of learning.
Thanks, Nick

Impossible to say really. The interface has had an overhaul but if you’ve used an iPad and a Mac I doubt it’ll be unfamiliar. I’d imagine it’ll absolutely fly though on the new M1 Macs.

Once I’ve verified it works with my most commonly used apps I’ll be upgrading. I’ve not found Catalina to be too memory hungry, that’s Chrome & Slack’s issue mainly.

I always err on the side of caution - and have only just upgraded to Catalina!

Same here. Always wait for at least a point update before leaping.

Thanks Sam, Rob & Jason. Cautionary words. A point update is already with developers so that may be too long.
The M1 chip in the new MacBooks (Air & Pro) out next week looks enticing. No more fan (definitely in the Air, not sure about the Pro) and therefore noise.
Thanks, Nick
