Magic Mouse

I have had my Magic Mouse for some time but it is ruining my desk.  It is leaving a black substance everywhere on the desk it is used.  I installed a thin mouse mat and it is doing the same to that.  I have to rub the desk really hard to get the black off.  I am sure I am not pressing too hard.  Where my little finger rests on the mouse mat it is coming away black! Can anyone explain what is happening? If not am thinking of getting a magic track pad to overcome this problem.

It's just picking up gunk. It's cleaning the desk;) just scrape it off the mouse

Sorry I may not have been clear. The gunk is all over my desk/mouse pad.

Diana,

Used to have a similar problem until I stopped my desk being cleaned with Mr Sheen.  Suffering excessive build-up on the surface of the desk which the mouse was picking up.  This gathered in clumps on the bottom of the mouse leaving black streaks on the desk.

Damp cloth with a smear of detergent cleaned it off the mouse and the desk but my desk is no longer shiny.

it happens to us all - its compressed, smoothed dirt which can be avoided by regularly cleaning the surface the mouse is used. Magic Trackpad is the answer!
