Hi all,

I'm fed up with my HP 2720e, it's hopelessly intermittent print faults and terrible HP support, so am looking to replace it.

Any recommendations - non-HP - gratefully received. I'm an occasional printer so don't want to spend more than about £80.00 if I can help it. Don't need fax but would like scanning and copying.

Would prefer paper loaded by cassette but that's not a deal breaker.

Many thanks!

Rob

Printers are a pain! It's often so hit and miss.

I fear this unhelpful, but our hp Envy has been a reliable inkjet workhorse for a decade (great for text, ok for graphics and not bad for photos on suitable paper)

It does copy and scan, but slowly, and I concede I often now just use iPhone/iPad camera instead.

Ours is the cheapest/smallest and works fine (6 school age children too!)

Brother laser printers (if b/w is enough) have a really good reputation. We have one hidden somewhere that has trundled along for several years.

A few years ago I saw a documentary that include an engineer who was expecting to build rockets to go into space but on an internship during her postgrad years realised printers were more of a challenge and therefore more interesting...

The mac tells me it's a Brother DCP-L2530DW series. Does scanning, double-sided printing and copying (all b/w though).

Cheers,

J

We gave up with colour inkjets (‘cause they' so unreliable and expensive) and just got a cheap previously loved B&W laser (HP Laserjet) for those moments when you really need to print a shipping label.
