Hello. I have bought a smart socket - hoping to be able to switch table lamps on and off using the home app and Siri voice instructions. However, trying to get the home app to connect the smart plug just isn’t working.

I get an instruction to scan the QR code on the plug, but the in the Home app the little box which should surround the QR code bobs about all over, too long and thin and not working at all. So then I tried the use alternative method and manually entered the 8 digit code but nothing happened - just the spinning buffering thing.

Has anyone here had the same problem? It is an iPhone 16 running the latest OS. I have also tried using my iPad, but with exactly the same result. I can’t help feeling that if I buy a different smart plug, I will have exactly the same problem with trying to set it up.

Thank you

Andrew

What’s the make and model of the plug? Also is it listed on the box as being HomeKit compatible?

Hi Sam.

It is a LAP X1. It says “works with Google Home” “works with Alexa” “Download on the App Store” with the Apple logo. It didn’t mention HomeKit.

Thanks

Andrew.

This doesn’t work with Apple HomeKit. None of the LAP lights are HomeKit compatible.

Tony

Thanks! I will give it to android friends then. And look for smart sockets which ARE compatible.

Andrew.
