Checking on the Apple Support pages i cannot find a solution. It seems that you can no longer change the size of a window so that it always opens to the size you left it at when you closed it. Unless you know different.

This is so annoying, I waste so much time expanding new windows to the size I want.

MacMini OS 10.15.7 Catalina

Have they fixed this in Big Sur?

Hi Paul,

I’m on Big Sur and I’ve just resized Mail’s main window, Quit and relaunched and the window size was retained. I did the same with two folders in Finder and both re-opened at their set sizes when I next opened them.

Hope that’s of some use.

Regards,

Stephen

Try double clicking the edge of a window, it’ll resize as far as it’ll go. If you hold alt it’ll resize opposite edges of the window to fix the screen
