How to take a screen shot on an iPad Pro. Can anyone help me, please?

Online instructions talk about a top button and a volume up button, but I don't seem to have either.

It's changed over the years (eg used to be 'power button and home
button'. Which one do you have, and which buttons do you have?

cheers,
Jason

Press the top (on/off) button and the bottom (home) button at the same time.
You can subsequently Edit the image to crop it, brighten it etc.

Thanks Jason. I have an on/off switch on the top left-hand side, loud and soft volume on the top left, and the home button on the middle right.

Derek, that's fantastic. Easy as that? Just tried it and it works! Many thanks.

Now, where do I find the screen shot I just took?

The screen shot is in Photos.
Click on it to select it then select Edit (at the top) to access the editing tools.

If you have an Apple Pencil you can also use it to take a screenshot by swiping diagonally from the bottom left (or right?) corner. 😊

Interesting! I do have an Apple Pencil (it came with the iPad), but I have never had any idea what to do with it.

Thanks Stephen.

You'll also usually find a miniature version appears in the bottom
corner which will disappear after a few seconds (save in Photos) or you
can tap on it to edit it and choose what to do. (Or you can swipe it
away if you're impatient, like I am, and want it just saved).

cheers,

Many thanks, Jason. I've learned a lot since I raised this question!

as someone who spent an hour working out how to connect a new Homepod
mini to our Apple TV yesterday, I always have sympathy for the struggle
to do these 'simple' things! Sometimes simple is quite hard to work
out...

And I had forgotten the Apple Pencil trick, so thanks Derek. Gilly, the
apple pencil is fabulous if you want to write on things or draw!

Jason

Hi Gilly,

This might be a good place to start:

I use my Apple Pencil for almost everything on my iPad instead of my finger, ‘cos I’m lazy and always look for the easy way.

Thank you Jason and Paul. I am going to take myself off to iPad (and Apple Pencil) class this afternoon, and try to get to grips with all these new things. (I am 83 now, so I do have some excuse!).

I have huge respect for your willingness to learn! At 51, I'm already starting to think 'oh I can't be bothered, I'll just stick to what I know'

cheers,
J

Jason
