My Mac Mini late 2012 is running very slowly and it has been suggested I upgrade the memory to max 16GB and upgrade to 480 GB? solid state drive at the same time.
Will this sort my problems out and where can I get the best deal?

I’d go for a 480GB SSD, they’re usually around £110 on Amazon, don’t worry too much about the RAM though. If you’ve got 4GB then an upgrade’s a good idea, 8GB you won’t see a difference after going up to 16GB.

The SSD will make the single biggest difference.

With the right tools it’s really not a bad installation for the MacMini, there’s a guide on ifixit.com. Alternatively, seek out your local Apple repair specialist and get them to install it, it’s about a 45min job then however long it takes to clone the data from the original HD to the new SSD. If you’re doing it yourself you can get a USB to 2.5” adapter for around £10 from amazon designed especially for SSDs, they don’t require additional power.
