[sorry I posted this but missed out part of the subject, so Ive re-poosted and corrected subject line]

Hullo people,

I come in my hour of need, my partners iPad II is acting up. O_o

Here is the behaviour it is exhibiting:
- sleep/suspend button now seems to switch the iPad off completely
- to re-active iPad requires holding down 'home' key and 'sleep/suspend'  (AKA a reset?)
- most other operations appear to be working once iPad is restarted
- except for one thing, no sound comes out of speaker/headphones (nothing from apps, video, or keyboard sounds. nada.)

Things tried:
- multiple resets
- latest software update from Apple (5.1.1)
- checked 'side switch' settings.
- checked 'mute' is off.

No joy so far.  Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance,
Jon.

At the risk of not being very helpful, it sounds like it could be a hardware fault and that taking it to the shop where you bought it or to your nearest Apple store could be the best thing.

I agree with Stephen, if you've tried multiple software resets then it's most likely a hardware fault.

Cheers,
Jon.

You may be able to find a logic board on ebay but there's no guarantee that's the part causing the problem. It could be a cable between logic board and another part.

Best way is to take it to the Apple Store, they may offer you a discounted replacement which could be your best option.

Hi Sam,

Re that ML download fail.

If I started download on talk talk, paused after the magic 53mb and then logged into fibre for the rest of the download.
