Update…..having looked this scam up on the internet it seems there is some software that can substitute the sender’s real email address with one’s own email address (which happens to also be the email address the scam is sent to).

If anyone can confirm this I would be grateful but otherwise I feel a bit calmer than I did when I found the scam email in my junk box an hour ago.
