I have an iMac with wireless keyboard and mouse, running OS 10.6.4. I am having to change batteries in there all the time, even though I turn off the keyboard and mouse when I won't be using them for awhile. Is this normal? If so, I need an alternative. I can't keep putting up with this. If not normal, what is the fix? I tried downloading the upgrade for the wireless keyboard, but it said I didn't need that. So if anyone can help me, I'd appreciate it.

I replace the batteries my Apple wireless keyboard 2-3 times each year.  That's all.

You may well find it useful to take it to the Apple Store and have them check it. Chris would have a better idea about whether this is worthwhile.

It 'sounds' like a hardware problem in the keyboard.

(I'd really love to blame Bluetooth, which I consider to be a lame betaware technology, but I can't imagine it is to blame in this case).
