So, the last time I tried, which was a long time ago, I didn't have
edits working. I'm not sure what changed, or what I did to make it work,
but I recently did a git pull, and edits seem to be working. Glaring
typos are easy to disband. I never actually set out looking for the
web-interface-edit functionality, but it's very nice to have.

Has any thought towards implementing searching the git repository been
discussed? It would be a nice feature to have, but a google site search
is sufficient for what I actually need. It would, however, be very nice
to have a self-searching function. Would integrating one of the existing
search projects for django be the way to go?

Thanks!

Glad that editing is working for you....

BTW, you can create new pages now too using edit, just type
new/page/address:edit, that was added very recently, and we now need
to create a default 404 error page that asks something like "page
doesn't exist, would you like to create it, if so, which filter do you
want to use, rest, text, mediawiki, html, etc." Once that is added,
smug has real wiki-like page creation, you edit a page, add a link,
click on it, and then you are asked if you want to create the page.

I thought a little about this, and at first I decided to let google
search my page, but then I noticed that I have a sub section of my
page that is private using a .htaccess file. In that section I keep my
personal notes about stuff. The problem is that google searches don't
search the private section, and an internal search, unless it was done
carefully would reveal my private portions.... Also, you can't just
port django search stuff I don't think, because you want to search in
the repository, theoretically (I assume) only the latest version of
the page.

This is more tricky that it at first appears, and the result is that
my initial thoughts about developing a search capability for smug have
been put on the back burner because it is more complex than it at
first appears.

What I would really want to see for web editing is a "preview"
feature, because I keep submitting changes to a page just to see what
they do and if they worked as I wanted, which creates a messy git log.

Anyone wanna code it?
