Dear All,
It was great meeting some of you in Charlotte and I'm honored to be a new member of this interest group.
I'm posting because I will be releasing a new album called "Ritual" on December 3rd, and I would love to share it with any of you who are interested. I'd be happy to mail you a physical copy or link you to a download. A bit more about it:
Comprised of 10 original compositions, the album draws inspiration from Mingus, Ellington, Ethiopian music from the ‘70s, Sun Ra, Anthony Braxton, Steve Reich, and György Ligeti among others. “Ritual” is also differentiated by its primal physicality, a mostly through-written, ensemble-driven approach (there are only 3 individual solos on the record), and a wide range of instruments, including flute, violin, clarinet, bass clarinet, electric guitar, alto and bari sax, valve trombone, electronics, and a propulsive jazz rhythm section. Though I live in Somerville, MA, I recorded and mixed the album to analog tape at a studio in downtown LA with some of that scene's most exciting players.
