Hi,
Since I created the issue #13 [1] I've been reading SMS Popup source
code and learning a lot from it. Thanks for making it open source.

When the issue was closed I updated my SMS Popup version to 0.9.97
from the market, but couldn't find a way to do this. I decided to test
the application with the emulator and I found out that running from
the source and there are new features I would like to test.

- Is it ok to package it myself and upload it to the phone?

I have a HTC magic with android 1.5.
Thanks for reading.

Oh, I just tried running the application on the emulator with 1.5 and
it fails to run saying:
[2009-10-20 18:50:41 - SmsPopupConfigActivity]ERROR: Application
requires API version 4. Device API version is 3 (Android 1.5).

If it's so, what version I am running on my phone?

Thanks.

Hey Macarse,

I just posted a release candidate version which is built for Donut to
the code site (look for my post in this group for the links). In the
past few days I changed the API version of the app to use 1.6 (Donut)
so it won't run on Cupcake devices anymore. Once I release this I'm
planning on releasing a Cupcake version for devices that haven't yet
received the Donut upgrades (the main diff is the text-to-speech code
which is native in Donut but a separate app in Cupcake).

And yes, feel free to take the code, build and install if you want to
keep up with the changes as I make them (just expect things to crash
far more often :)).

Adam:
Great, now I get it.

What would you recommend, wait for my phone to update to donut or I
should do it manually?

Thanks.

You can try SMS Popup RC2 now if you are still on Cupcake, I switched
it back as a bunch of people seem to still be on Cupcake.
