I agree we must try and find Darwin-related topics and speakers (I'm adding Darwin goggle group to this mail) but maybe the BioEvo guys could give clear choices in this sense.

Another possibility I can suggest is mental health in Spain / Catalonia / UE general population. In this sense, I have a colleague (Ester) who could be the sociological / epidemiological approach, specially on how parents' mental health affects the children (the subject of her PhD).

As we have people in my unit both from the KIDSCREEN European Team -children's health between ages 8 & 18 in 11 countries- and also in a European Mental Health project, maybe I could get someone else for a café if we decide a topic that touches this subject. But Ester says for sure she could be on a café if it's related to this sort of thing.

I suggest as a topic the bright and dark sides of pharmaceutical marketing.

Aurea and others,
sorry I did not answer before (am I a bioevo guy?? jeje). I never
attended (helped!) with the cafes cientifico (sorry!), but looking
from outside I would rather prefer the cafes cientificos to be "normal
topic", not being related to Darwin stuff. People should not get
saturated with the long-beard guy year....

however, besides Darwin, there are many evolutionary questions that
deserve cafes cientificos, such as if evolution has a direction, or
how do species speciate (many new data with very interesting examples
are being published in big journals!), or if human races exist or not,
bla bla bla...

so, just in case focusing cafe cientifico to evolution, i would not do
anything related to darwin....

see you!
