Printer stops randomly in the middle of a print.

LED 1 and 3 go out while the rest are solid and it throws this error: [ERROR] Can't write to printer (disconnected?) (SerialException): Write timeout
[ERROR] Not connected to printer.

This board is from the original kickstarter

Here is what i've tried:
always printing from the sd card
I have the latest firmware, the latest pronterface
swapped usb cables
swapped power supplies
swapped sd cards
filtering the g-code
disabling the sd card access from my computer

If anyone has any ideas, i'm all ears

Thanks!

Sounds like USB disconnects.
How long is/are your USB cables ?
Are the computer and machine plugged into the same power strip ?
Is the USB port USB3 ?
Can you try Ethernet ?
Is the machine particularly large ?

The main cable I use is 2.5ft and has ferrite bead.
Same power strip so no ground looping
Yes, usb 3 on one computer. On the other computer i've tried its not.
I have an ethernet jack being delivered today and will solder it to the board. Did not have one installed when it was shipped.
Machine is a mendelmax 1.5ish so not too big

I will report back once i've tried printing over the network. Let me know if you have any other ideas/suggestions.

Thanks
