display data in same manner as ecg monitor

There is a canvas example (not using smoothie charts)

for displaying ecg data in the same fashion it would appear

in a patient monitor.

Has anyone implemented the same format, where chart updates are rendered

with an "eraser" rectangle/line that moves across the chart?

Doing this would require modifying the smoothie source code. The timeToXPixel function might be a good place to start.
