Robert, I just had to go out and get some samples. The ruthless seems
very hoppy compared to the pale ale. I should have gotten some
regular SN IPA to compare, but I didn't. I like both of these.

I never cared for their pale ale that much probably because I can get it anywhere <G> So would you say it's similar to the pale ale but just hoppier with a touch of rye?

What first got me into craft beers and brewing was their porter but haven't had it in years. Also their Bigfoot barleywine. Drove up there when I was young and stupid with a friend on our way to Oregon. Stopped by and had lunch and a few bigfoots (remember about 10% alcohol) hit a blizzard through Northern California that sobered us up pretty quick.

Then they went big time and expanded. To me they weren't the same but lately they have been really hitting out of the park.

They have expanded, but it seems they have kept the same traditions... for instance I think that they bottle condition all of their beers, which is something that most commercial breweries do not do.  I do enjoy their beers, don't think I have tried one that I didn't like.

Yes sir.  The Torpedo ale is hoppier than the pale and has a higher %, but not as hoppy as the Ruthless Rye.  The Ruthless Rye is IMO, PDG.

My "problem" is there are so many fine beers.  I really like the seasonal beers Sam Adams comes up with.

Yeah was just at the beer store today and noticed Sam Adams had a good selection out. I saw their blackberry weitbier (sp?) I like that one when it's warmer though. Picked up a dogfish and SN porter. Also SN Bigfoot ;)

you are talking about one of my favorite subjects--beer--been drinking
some double ipa's lately--Bell's Hopslam, Central Waters Ilumination are
both decent examples of the style. Bought a couple sixers of Hop Stoopid
from Lagunitas that was very good too. I Like big beers but they get
kinda pricey

Next to try is a 22oz of Dragons Milk from New Holland Breweries.
Tomorrow have one bottle of Beer Geek Breakfast from Mikkeller in Norway---

Looking forward to Suds of the South in Tuscaloosa, AL next weekend: http://wellthatscool.com/sots3/.  Looks like lots of tasty choices on offer.

I have been to this event for the past couple of years:  http://www.oregonbrewfest.com/

Well worth it to discover new breweries.  It opens at 12:00, and I generally have a buzz by 12:40.  Good times.

I’ve been to a few of those. Always a good time and good beer.
