Gave it a shot tonight with a Hutterite chicken. It does a pretty good job.
The directions said a 3-4 pound bird would take 3 hours. The Hutterites sell theirs at about seven pounds. I used a bit of chicken seasoning and some cherry wood. I'm glad I used a thermometer since the bird was done in about 2.5 hours.
Moist meat and crisp skin.
I may do this again.

I had one of those way back when, it did a good job but I never used it much because of the limited capacity. 1 or 2 chickens max, IIRC.
