Same technology as an "On-Demand" hot water heater. I have a Bosch
that's been in use now for a year. I've had the propane tank topped
up to 85% once 8 months ago, and its only down to 62%. The Gas Co. is
coming again May 16th to top it for the rest of this year. <GRIN>

Every house I have lived in Japan and Holland had a tank less on demand hot
water heater. very efficient . I now have a heat pump which is also very
efficient.

Bill They are great heaters I am looking into a Renni instant hot water .
They do save big bucks on gas .
I live in NY and its nasty here in Jan & Feb . My house is old and I needed
to insulate it . I have been thinking about the best way to do it for
several yrs now . I have a large walk-in attic with a slate roof . No soffit
ventilation . There is a window in each gable end of it
I decided that the two part foam by Iceyene would be the best rout . Its
pricy I paid just under 3g's for the foam installed . This winter it was 17'
outside and my therma pen said 68 in the kitchen and 66 upstairs on the
second floor and the attic which is unheated was 58' . The attic is
considered a semi conditioned space . The attic the other day was 75' the
house was 72 on the first floor . It was 82 outside it probably would have
way north of 100' up there before I had it foamed . I had them foam over the
two windows and its completely sealed up now w/ zero air infiltration .There
isn't any need for the two small windows there any more .The foam insulation
is accepted by the NYS building code now . Any of you folks in the hot
states would get a big payback as well in electric savings from A/C during
your hot weather months

Check out both Bosch and Paloma heaters as well. There is a bit of a
learning curve when you switch to these things. The tankless hot
water heaters constrict the amount of water in order to heat it. So,
you won't get the same flow at the tap as you do with the cold water.

If using gas.... be sure you get the auto electric ignition. Mine
has a little turbine inline with the water tube, which spins when
water flows, and drives a piezo electric lighter which allows gas to
flow and ignites it. No pilot light. No electrical connection. Many
of my neighbors run theirs off of the BBQ size Propane tanks or the
20-30 gallon tanks.... and just trundle them down to the station for a
refill. I have a huge tank.... 2' X 7', about 22 cubic feet, 165
gallons or so. Big Jim will correct me on that if I'm figuring
wrong. Anyway, its good for more than a year at the rate I now use
Hot Water. When I had a regulation gas hot water heater, it would go
from 85% to 60% in two months or so. Plus or minus. Because it was
always on/off all day and night keeping water HOT. Took the same
amount of time then as now, to get hot water into the sink or tub.
But this way.... gas only gets used so long as water is flowing.
