Hello, Everyone!

Gardening season is *finally* upon us (or it will be, once it stops snowing)!  The Garden Committee has set dates/times for our many annual events, as follows:

Tues. April 26, 7:00-9:00 pm:  2011 GARDEN KICKOFF.  Snacks provided!  All Gardeners: please attend one of the Kickoffs to get up-to-date garden news and information.  (see below for details)

Sat. May 14, 12:00-2:00 pm:  COMMUNITY GARDEN WORKDAY.  Please help us put the 'community' in the SMLC Community Organic Garden!  Help turn the compost pile.  Or spread wood chips on the garden paths.  Or check gates & fences for repairs.  Or stake plot boundaries.  And much more!

Sat. May 21, 10:00am-12:00 pm:  2011 GARDEN KICKOFF.  Breakfast will be served!  If you cannot make either Kickoff, please contact a Garden Committee member.

2011 Garden Kickoffs:

What is 'organic'?  What does 'SMLC' stand for?  Who is on the Garden Committee?  What are those big piles of rotting vegetation and manure for?  Where is the kiosk?  What is a kiosk for?  All these questions, and many more, will be answered at our orientation get-together!  We'll give you a brief history of SMLC, go over our garden policies (some of which have changed from previous years), cover some information to help you garden organically, and answer any questions that you may have.  Added Bonus: Treats provided! Games and Prizes too!  Join us and get to know your fellow gardeners!

Other Upcoming Events (reminder: Workdays are the second Saturday of each month):

Memorial Day: Work-Your-Plot deadline.

Sat. June 11, 10:00am-12:00:  Breakfast in the Garden and Community Garden Workday.

Hello, Everyone!

Gardening season is *finally* in full bloom (including the dandelions)!  We have two upcoming events which you will want to check out:

Or re-stake plot boundaries.  And much more!

Sat. May 21, 10:00am-12:00 pm:  2011 GARDEN KICKOFF.  Breakfast will be served, rain or shine, but *you* must RSVP to Wendy (wpell...@smlcland.org) so that we know how many people to prep for!  All Gardeners should attend one of the Kickoffs to get up-to-date garden news and information.

So, what is 'organic' anyway?  What does 'SMLC' stand for?  Who is on the Garden Committee?  What are those big piles of rotting vegetation and manure for?  Where is the kiosk?  What is a kiosk for?  All these questions, and many more, will be answered at our orientation get-together!  We'll give you a brief history of SMLC, go over our garden policies (some of which have changed from previous years), cover some information to help you garden organically, and answer any questions that you may have.  Added Bonus: breakfast provided (but only if you RSVP =) )! Games and Prizes too!  Join us and get to know your fellow gardeners!  Please RSVP with number attending by Sunday May 15.
