Hi again, fellow SMLC Community Organic
Gardeners,
A Few
Reminders:
Weeds: Please
keep weeds from going to seed in your plot. Please control
weeds in the walkways next to your plot. Please do not put
crabgrass in the compost pile until it is dead, since it will just start
growing in the compost (allow it to dry out completely first).
Tools: Please take a
moment before you leave each day to clean off the tools that you have
used before you put them away. Scrape/Wipe off accumulated
clay/weeds. This will help our community tools to last longer! And,
please return tools to the appropriate location so that the next gardener
can easily find them (shovels in one pail, hoes in the other pail, small
handtools in bucket across from spigot).
Please read Wendy's recent documents on
"garden etiquette" and the June workday report.
Garden Workday, next
Saturday July 10, 10:00am - noonish.
Help us put the 'community' in our
community organic garden by helping out with various tasks for juat a few hours
next Saturday: 1) turn the compost pile;
2) inventory, organize, clean, sharpen, and/or repair the
garden tools; 3) remove weeds in the walkways, next to
gateways, along fences, and near the compost/manure piles.
AND, if you participate in
the workday, you will be eligible to participate in "Garden
Roulette" -- a chance for all of the other workday participants to
help you in your plot with whatever needs to be done for 30 minutes at the end
of the workday! In June we cleared weeds from the "Plant-A-Row"
plot. Must be present to win.
Mark Yer Calendar: Annual Wine and
Cheese Get-together, Saturday July 31, 7:00pm. Join us as we
celebrate the summer harvest! Details TBA.
We hope to see you at the workday next
Saturday!
