So, as I understand the system better, if you move from CoF to MG, you keep your progression but lose your current favour. However, when you either find an item with CoF or buy and item with MG, they are tagged with the minimum level of that faction needed to equip it.

Honestly, while I understand the way you guys designed it to be a choice between the Cycle experience you wanna have, I do personally feel that being able to spec different characters on different factions without it being a detriment to others (and maybe even having two stashes, one for each faction) would make the overall gameplay experience much nicer.

They can, to a limit. Items which the MG character found, not bought can be equipped by the CoF character. And items the CoF character found that were not influenced by the CoF bonuses can be equipped by the MG character. These limitations are to prevent you from taking advantage of both factions at the same time one one character, making this the necessary way to play.

1.) if you were allowed to keep equipped gear from the other faction when changing, this would demand that you max both factions to get the best of both worlds and keep changing back and forth to optimize gameplay, and would also require a lot of third party guides on what the strategies are regarding it.

2.) If you were allowed to swap very freely, but not keep equipped gear, this would result in needing to be specific factions for specific parts of leveling, again utilizing third party guides for strategies on this.

eg. if we introduced weapon swapping, there would be a necessary tactic to have a Last Laugh in your swap to cull bosses (or some similar meta) defeating the true purpose of the mechanic. Respeccing on the fly would create a burden of optimal play in changing skills before bosses to go from AoE to single target, or to swap specific resistances for different content. Not fun mechanics, but because they would be the optimal strategy, people would feel the need to do it.

One of the most interesting details in GD is the faction system. Generally there are friendly and enemy factions you will meet during your journey in the world of Cairn. My ongoing guide have the purpose of provide short details about them and what kinda unique and valuable gear they provide.

Your first encounter with them is either at Homestead or Pine Barrens. Their faction vendors are both at Homestead and Fort Ikon. You gain reputation by killing Aetherial Vanguards, which are the enemies at AoM expansion and not regular aetherials. Also you gain reputation by killing Outcast, if you decide to be hostile with them. Items:

Recipes - Blazerush is decent 2h fire weapon, Aetherbolt pendant is the best amulet in numerous builds, like Lightning Albrecht Aether Ray Mage Hunter. Mark of lethal intents is great acid medal. Hex launcher is useful weapon for aether Drain Essence Apostate.

Ravager eye. Reason number one for be friendly with them. Probably most universal weapon augment in the game. Big bonus to health and DA, also great if you play pets. Other weapon augments are good for builds counting on big Weapon Damage and needing flat.

Last faction in AoM. They provide great gear. Doing quest will gradually uncovers more vendors. In final stage, their quartermaster is at Steelcap district. Gaining reputation by killing Aetherials Vanguards. Items:

Augments - Weapon augments boosting cold, lightning, pierce, lightning or tri-elemental builds. So very often your best weapon augment is bought here. Arcanum Dust is the most universal jewelry augment, giving you total damage and energy regeneration. Other jewelry augments have their purpose, nothing redundant or weak.

First of all, I have to write that unlike Kymon/Order where going friendly with the one turn hostile with other, here selecting faction just give you chance for faster leveling reputation and few unique quests.
Also every faction have the blueprint for the useful belt called White Lotus.

Recipes- Few useful one, best is perhaps medal Mark of burning shadows, which can be used for builds focued around Righteous Fervor or Blackwater Cocktail. Bloodsurge is decent amulet for physical or bleeding builds, especially Soldiers.

Augments- Weapon augments can be used in chaos or acid builds but offensively my focus is shifted to Osyr wisdom, great jewels augmentation for elemental builds, providing damage, OA and resistances. Armor augments, Dreeg omen gives you really juicy 30 DA, making it universally needed augment. Other augments provides very valuable resistances too.

Augments - Other than pets, offensively Bysmiel Shroud is great for every aether build, Bysmiel cunning is the weapon augment for physical /trauma builds. Ateph glare is jewelry augment used in cold builds, others are less used.

Recipes - Mark of Shadow queen, BiS for Panetti Mage Hunter but also great for any elemental Inquisitor based caster. Bysmiel Mindweaver is very good weapon for elemental based pet builds, using Occultist.

Chtonics - Also possible to reach Nemesis fairly early. Benni Jahr is relatively easy Nemesis if you can face tank him. Kiting can be tough because of his traps. Grava Thul the AoM Nemesis is really tough opponent. Be wary of the nullification balls stripping all of your buffs!

Eldritch Horrors - FG faction. Kaisan is one of the toughest opponents in the game. Green crystals are nasty, if you try to escape them, he will use Doom bolt attack. Can be problematic for acid and especially pierce builds.

There must be factions. Factions reveal hearts. So in our disagreements and divisions, Paul wants us to measure our motives, words, and actions by the gauge of chapter 13. The less they look or sound like biblically defined love, the more concerned he wants us to be about our genuineness.

In Veronica Roth's novel Divergent, Beatrice Prior's (Tris) society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue. When the factions were formed, however, each gained a negative and a positive trait. The factions are Abnegation, Erudite, Dauntless, Amity, and Candor. On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives after taking an aptitude test that occurred the previous day.

Abnegation is the faction that values the needs of others above the needs of oneself. Their core belief is 'Them before I.' Members of Abnegation take over the public services in the city. Tris Prior was raised in Abnegation. Though Abnegation can be selfless, a flaw of theirs is the fact that they are stifling. This is where they get their nickname, Stiffs.

The dystopic society of Chicago is ruled by a council of fifty people, composed entirely of representatives from Abnegation, as their faction is the most incorruptible due to their commitment to selflessness. Abnegation's colour is grey. Their style of dress is conservative, loose-fitting light gray clothing so as not to call attention to themselves. The only accessory they are allowed to wear is a plain watch. Also, as the people of Abnegation prefer not to show skin, revealing clothes are never worn.

The Abnegation was the faction that valued helping others before their own self. They helped the Factionless by giving food and clothing, which the other factions didn't. The people in these factions were not able to look into the mirror too long, since they didn't want to be too selfish and think of themselves. This sometimes causes trouble between the factions.

"Bookcases line the walls on either side of me, but they seem to be decorative more than anything, because computers occupy the tables in the centre of the room, and no one is reading. The Erudite stare at screens with tense eyes focused.

According to the norms of the faction, it is dictated that a faction member must wear at least one blue article of clothing at a time: blue causes the brain to release calming chemicals which attest to their saying, "a calm mind is a clear mind." It is also noted that Erudites care for eloquent speeches, as well as their search for knowledge. The Erudite, though extremely intelligent, have been known to be vain.

The Erudite leader was Jeanine Matthews. She tried to keep the Divergent population under control - she was always testing her simulations and kept making new ones, aiming to make them strong enough that the Divergent cannot resist them. The Erudite headquarters had a vast library. If an Erudite initiate were not already very curious, they would have serious consequences.

Dauntless is considered the stalwart soldiers of the factions. Dauntless are those who are brave, seeming almost fearless. They strive to become courageous and durable. The Dauntless are those who guard The Fence, making sure no one gets in or out, and are the best soldiers. The Dauntless colour is black. Members of Dauntless dress in tight-fitting, dark or black clothing that aids in their lifestyle of battle and training. Dark makeup, tattoos, and piercings are also recommended for all members. To get to their base, they jump on and off a train every day.

Members of Amity value peace and harmony above all else. Members of Amity are dressed in red or yellow, though their faction only dictates they wear some amount of the colours. Styles are loose and comfortable. Amity children are seen playing hand-clapping games and singing songs. Amity members are happy people, willing to serve, but, unlike Abnegation, do not come face-to-face with those they serve (usually). Despite this, Amity has given Chicago compassionate counsellors and caretakers.

Candor members value honesty, above all else. A member of Candor can be recognized from their black and white clothing, a visual representation of the black-and-white they see in truth. Through the years, the Candor faction provided the people with trustworthy and sound leaders in law. They are very truthful, sometimes to the point of being tactless. The Candor initiation does not utilize simulation, but utilizes lie detectors tests and truth serum: initiates are placed in front of all those in the faction and are asked deeply personal questions. They believe that charm is unnecessary, and politeness is deception in pretty packaging. According to Christina, Candor acts according to the idea that if the person reveals all his secrets, he has no desire to lie about anything because the worst is already in the open. Although Candor values honesty the most, they also seek to develop impartiality. (The term "Candor" roots from the word "Candid." The name is a Latin word meaning to shine; be white.)
