Happy New Year SMILE

Hope you are settling well in 2013.

I’m putting together a proposal for the Museums Association conference in November 2013 at Liverpool.

It’s great that it’s returning to our region this year.

The theme of the presentation/activities will be on active science learning and engagement.

Are there any members of the SMILE network who would like to showcase different ways to engage with science at museums.

I already have one confirmed speaker from London Science Museum. Beth will be giving an interactive presentation encapsulates engagement through science and creativity and uses new Talk Science tools.

I am currently looking for 1 to 2 more potential presenters from the SMILE network. The MA are particularly interested in seeing creative ideas and active learning which could include practical activities like the ones we have explored at SMILE CPD days.

Please let me know if you would be interested and feel free to get in touch if you want to run some ideas through with me.

It would be a great opportunity to promote the learning offer at your museum and a chance to present to colleagues at a national conference.

Any confirmed speakers will have conference fees waived for the day.

Please could you let me know if you would be interested by the end of Jan. I will be travelling around New Zealand from 8th Feb so I hope to submit a proposal to the MA during the first week of Feb.

Cheers

Alex
