Thanks MrBean,I checked with cim instance as you suggested ,It listed Virtual disks(LUN) list ,is available Volume terminology in EMC or not ?NetApp have volume and lun ,that why I asking EMC have volume

Each storage array vendor has his own architecture and distinct terminologies. Clariion do not have architecture similar to NetApp. Both are completely different.

Well Netapps are NAS devices under the hood that's why they utilize the distinction. An EMC Clariion is a pure block storage array so yes it talks about LUNs but one thing which can be confusing is I've seen a few devices in the past which used the two terms somewhat interchangeably. In other words for every LUN the reported a matching VOLUME as well. So if your trying to write something to handle multiple vendors watch our for LUNs and Volumes with the same name they are usually but not always talking about the same thing on the array.

         Can any one  please explain which is front end system,which one is back end system and difference between front end system and front end port ,diff between backend system and backend port
