What tools exist to allow an end user to browse the CIM model?

Excellent Question!  There are several options, some require advanced skills.

These first three are easy to install and get started with:

StorageIM is an open-source browser with support for many SMI-S profiles:

  http://sourceforge.net/projects/storageim/

CIM Navigator is a generic CIM browser that is a favorite with newcomers.  It has a fee, but a small one.

  http://cimnavigator.com/

The WBEM Services CIMOM package also includes a browser.

  http://wbemservices.sourceforge.net/

Other options:

UltimateCIM is a CIM browser implemented as an Eclipse plug-in:

  https://sourceforge.net/docman/display_doc.php?docid=32259&group_id=160234

There is a Java-based browser in the Pegasus CVS repository, but it is not included in the usual Pegasus distributions.

  http://cvs.opengroup.org/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/pegasus-JavaCIMClient/

YAWN is browser installed under Apache web server.

  http://pywbem.wiki.sourceforge.net/YAWN

WBEM Solutions (WSI) commercial SDK includes a browser.

Solaris includes a CIM browser.

Don't forget ecute (http://sblim.wiki.sourceforge.net/Ecute). It runs
an Eclipse rich client.
