Hi Smerfs

We are looking for a new Internal Comms Manager at the ICR and Henry (cc'd) asked me to share this with you all.

It's a great science comms role at an institution doing fascinating and impactful cancer research.

I've pasted a link to apply and some general info below. A job description is attached too.

Hopefully it's of interest to one of you or perhaps someone you know. Feel free to get in touch with Henry, if you have any questions.

Thanks

Ben

P.S. I agree with Al about a meet-up soon.

Internal Communications Manager
The ICR

Salary: £36,502-£39,557 depending on skills and experience
Closes: Monday 24 April

We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic communicator with a passion for science for the key position of Internal Communication Manager. Your role will be to keep our researchers, corporate staff, students and stakeholders in touch with the ICR’s work and engaged in its mission and strategy. Your job will be to understand in detail the ICR’s organisational needs – and design programmes of communication that convey the right message via the best possible route. You will be responsible for a wide variety of internal communication channels, including the ICR’s weekly internal newsletter, use of the ICR’s new intranet, publications and events.

The successful candidate will be expected to write and edit a wide variety of content, including articles that communicate complex scientific concepts. A degree in a relevant scientific subject is therefore essential, and you will also be an outstanding written and verbal communicator with a track record as a writer or editor. You will have experience of digital communication, ideally in creating email newsletters, and will probably have some background in publications, including an understanding of design and production.

In delivering internal communications, the post holder will need to build excellent relationships across the organisation, and so will require excellent interpersonal skills. You should also ideally have prior experience of overseeing staff, as the role line manages two Science Communication Officers. This is a position that involves juggling multiple tasks, so you will need to be an excellent organiser – of yourself and others – able to prioritise work and hit deadlines.
