Hey guys,
Its been over almost 18 months since SMC Mumbai was formed with the collective energy and support of this volunteer community. And we wanted to shoot out a Updates from the Club House email before the financial year ends - to sum up where we stand.
We've had a great ride so far!
- Our sessions have been conducted at venues arranged by our volunteer/members on a pro-bono basis and the topics have been diverse and 'cosmo-social'.
- The entry to all our events has been consistently complimentary - and we still don't see the need to make this a commercial entity.
- We've had a few lean periods with no events. We've had some periods with 2 events per month, we've even been the Mumbai trending topic on multiple occasions.
- We've also partnered with events and workshops such as Digital Media Conclave, Digital Vidya BootCamps and a Movie TweetUp with BookMyShow.
The spirit of SMCM has continued since inception and we're proud of that. We've even had contact from the international SMC community who've recognized and appreciated our work :)
Looking to take the next leap!
There's so much that SMCM can do and is capable of pulling off.
- Already the international chapters (specifically SMC's HQ) has been talking to us about some events which will involve the internationally recognized thought-leaders from the Social Media field.
- We also have a small bank of potential event ideas that we're still to dive into
We'd like to invite your thoughts on directing the club for the new financial year, starting April 2011. These could be:
a) Types, themes and nature of programs you see SMCM conducting that would add more value to our association.
b) How you could participate and contribute more actively?
c) Making SMC sustainable: making the membership process more formal, raising sponsorship or any other ways'
d) Any other points you'd like to share.
Why you should be a more active member?
SMCM is increasingly gaining more recognition in the overall community. Some of the connections that we as core members make are extremely valuable. You too can be part of the core team and be an active member, not only of SMCM, but also of overall community of Digital Marketers in Mumbai.
