Aloha,

Hope everyone's doing well on the Monday morning. I'll try and keep this short.

Let me start with a quick Thank You to everyone (with a special
shout-out to our friends from Smursh) for supporting the Photographers
& Social Media event. We had 100+ RSVPs (#SMCM first) and a decent
turnout too.

Now coming to some important updates (esp. the last one) for everyone:

- We'll be sharing the Video(s) and PPT from the previous event this
week - watch out for that - should be good to share

- Lavin and Ankita are talking to Miss Malini (as many of you know
already) about an event on Blogging - we're looking at doing this in
November - mostly 3rd weekend

- I've always liked how GreenPeace (including the Indian division)
promotes their causes on Social Media and manages online marketing
overall. We wanted to do an event on Social Media for Social Change
with them and others from the field. We've reached out to someone who
should put us in touch with GreenPeace and we also have some other
leads. We're looking at December 2nd weekend for this.
comments/suggestions/thoughts welcome on this.

- Best for last: We were thinking of doing a Movie TweetUp :) We are
the Social Media Club and it'll be awesome we all go see The Social
Network together on the first day, as a tweetup. We can do this at PVR
Phoenix for 1 specific show and let people buy their own tickets in
advance online to avoid any execution nightmares. What do you guys
think of this? Let me know and we can put this up asap.

I'm excited about the upcoming events and am eagerly waiting to hear
from everyone (especially for the movie tweetup).

Cheers,

Achint Parekh

Movie tweetup is a great idea. I am just concerned about tickets availability and that people will have to book in advance. How do we make each one book for herself/himself?

Movie tweetup would be great. We'll jus pick a show and put up an invite..anyone who wants to come books and buys their own ticket.(?)

Rest of the updates sound exciting.

And thanks Achint :)

Movie tweetup - great idea!!!
Poor me - so far away :'(
I'd say, buy the tickets for confirmed attendees - that way u can get them in a block, rather than spread apart (which might happen if ppl book their own tickets)

Elroy Serrao
PS: Why didn't we do something like this when I was in Mumbai? Why, I ask you people ?

Sorry Elroy :) Guess we needed a movie like The Social Network for us
to  think of this :P

But we should all definitely do more movie tweetups more regularly.

And you can do this with #SMCBangalore :))

Hello Hello,

Friends, The Social Network movie tweetup went great, thanks for all those who came and double thanks to all those who helped execute it.

What else is SMC Mum up to you ask...

-Achint and Lavin presented on Online Reputation Management at the last Digital Vidya Bootcamp. And they rocked as usual :)

- Smursh is at Marcus Evans Social Media Marketing conference in Mumbai representing The Social Media Club, Mumbai. We were offered a free ticket for one of our members, and though Achint and Lavin tried hard to lobby for the ticket costing around Rs. 50,000 we decided we should share it with Smrush to thank them for all the support they have shown till date :)
We intend to follow this as long as we get support from members and free tickets from event managers :)

- We are in process of planning our next event/events with Miss Malini and Green Peace. Any ideas, help , connections would be helpful. Fresh ideas for events are more than welcome too.

Hope everything else is great at your end.

Warm Regards

Ankita Gaba
