I have a question for you all.
How do you wash your motorcycle? Since starting a long process of moving to the north bay I’ve left my bike in a dirt floored shed where it has become a home for dirt, spiders, and the occasional mouse family. Life demands have made riding less frequent, but I do consider any SMBC breakfast ride that comes to the north bay sort of like the circus coming to town, so I try to show up as I can. This morning the thunder struck as I headed out to uncover the 20-year-old R1150. Doppler promised and delivered an unorganized front and strong rains followed me down bodega highway as I traversed the semi flooded backroads to Marvin’s in Cotati.
A few weeks ago, at breakfast, Mike and I joked that we should start writing up our daily errand trips as ride reports because they were the only opportunities I had to get on a bike. So that’s what this is… Being the only rider who made it to breakfast this week, I’m either true to my Nordic heritage or the only one stupid enough to think it a joy to ride in a downpour…
After creating puddles under the counter barstool at Marvin’s and commiserating with the F250 super duty guy at the discount gas station, the return trip down Roblar Rd. with light showers was a delight. Because any day on a bike under any conditions is better than a day spent staring at a computer screen…
And my bike is now clean.
