Hi all,
Our July 12-15 campout at Union Reservoir in Eldorado National Forest is 3 weeks away!
I hope everyone is getting excited for some nice, warm weather by the lake and some great riding and hiking up in the Sierras!
Like the Hendy Woods campout, we'll be leaving directly from breakfast at Min's in Concord to make the journey up to US-50 and Ice House Road. Several of us last year made the journey by taking CA-4 through Stockton, then CA-88 to Lockeford, to CA-124 in Ione, to CA-49 to Placerville, US-50, taking a last break at the Southfork 1848 Bakeshop in Pollock Pines before heading to the campground. I've attached a GPX file of the route for those that like to GPS.
I've checked recently, and there were approximately 40 first-come-first-serve sites in two banks at the Sunset Campground, so we'll aim for those. For whoever reaches the campground first, if you can try to find a few sites close to each other, that would be great. If that doesn't work out, there's the nearby Fashoda campground on the same peninsula as Sunset, and several others around the lake that I'm sure we can find a spot.
Looking forward to the summery camping with you all!
Cheers,
Mike
