I am not sure if this is because I've updated and kept the settings therefore:

Whenever I open up SmartSVN 9 Preview 3 the transaction dialog opens and keeps asking for passwords for the repositories being watched. No matter if I select to store the password or not. The password is correct: If I enter it in the webbrowser it works (https connection to port 8443).

When I open a project where the password is stored then I see the dialog, too - additionally the transaction Window pops up and asks as well (funny: The the transactions dialog is on another monitor - so I have to switch between left and right to enter/apply the password).

What can I do to start with a "fresh" install but not loosing all my projects?

In the preferences (Actions -> Refresh) is "Ask for master password if required" selected?

When you clear all items on the Authentication page and you tell SmartSVN to store the password again, will the entries be created correctly?

Yes, it is selected. I tried removing the master-PW which lead to all PW's being removed.

I set a new mater-PW and made SVN operation that require a PW. The result: I am asked over an over again, even if I set the check "remember password".

Most annoying is that all my stored PW's are lost. :-/

So, for me something is seriously broken... But again: If its an issue with the config: Can I start from scratch but keeping at least the projects?

Then you have *set* a new master password and not *changed* it - there are two radio buttons in the Change Master Password dialog.

Projects are stored in projects.xml Backup your settings directory (see About dialog for the location) and remove all except of the projects.xml, license and settings.xml while SmartSVN is not running.

Nonetheless, it would be interesting to have a reproducible test case so we can reproduce the problem ourselves.

Argh... might be. I can't exactly remember. However, I have a backup mirror that should still have the old PW active, so I tried again. The result:

1.) Edit -> Preferences -> Authentication:
(I see PW's are stored, especially for the repos SmartSVN keeps asking).
2.) Press the button "Change Master Password":
3.) Upper radio button is active: "Change master password" (this dialog is a bit confusing though - the lower two text boxes apply for both selections, right?!)
4.) Set a new password.
5.) Dialog opened "The master password has been changed"
6.) Confirmed this and the preferences dialog with "OK"
7.) Exited SmartSVN with "Exit" (using the portable installation, btw, so nothing is left in memory and I don't use explorer integration).
8.) Start SmartSVN again
9.) opened project with 1..n working copies all referring to a single server with these kind of issues
10.) Being asked for a PW, entering the right one, having activated to store the PW
11.) being asled for the (new) master password
12.) Transaction window opens
13.) Ping-Pong between project and transaction windows asking for the password 10 times (probably because its 5 working copies, all being watched in the transactions)

Strangely, the password is set correctly with the asterix in the dialogs, so I only have to click "OK".

What else can I do to track this down? (I'll not reset the settings in case you need additional info for now...)

Progress, progress...

It works now w/o asking me any longer. What I did:
1.) I realised that the phenomena was only happing for one dedicated server (hosting different repositories)
2.) this server in the Authentication settings appeared two times: one time with just name and empty password, the second time with name and password
3.) Removed the master PW completely, restarting SmartSVN
4.) Removed the two entries, restarting SmartSVN
5.) Opened the project referring to the server in question
6.) Entering the right name/pw combination (one time only!), restarting SmartSVN
7.) next time I started SmartSVN all was OK I am not being nagged any longer.
8.) Set the (old) master password, restarting SmartSVN
9.) All OK now, I have to enter the Master-PW one time, the transaction window keeps closed. All is back to normal! ...what an odyssey... :-)

So: Probably it was an issue with the two entries? I had the connection log enabled, but this did not provide any additionally helpful information. Only, that threads for the working copies where started (exactly 5 entries for 5 threads, as expected).

I need a repository where I can try that myself...
