Title : Competitive Recommendation Systems

Speaker : Iordanis Kerenidis, Universite de Paris Sud

Date : July 17, 2006

Venue & Time : Aula Alfa, Via Salaria 113, 3:00 PM

Abstract : A recommendation system tracks past purchases of a
group of users to make product recommendations to
individual members of the group. Such systems are
important in practice, i.e. amazon.com, but also
have theoretical appeal. I will review some recent
theoretical results in this area and also give more
details about the connection between building
competitive recommendation systems and the problem
of matrix reconstruction.
