Abstract : In today's world, privacy has become one of the most
important issue and demands protection. Over the
Internet, there is a trade-off between security and
privacy. Information leakage can be an undesirable
side-effect, in particular when communications are
between secret agents.
Since early 80s, the importance of privacy was
highlighted by David Chaum: his work forms the basis
for many of the actual techniques for protecting
personal information, with a particular focus on
untraceable and secure payments. The techniques
proposed are still relevant and are used to obtain
very nice and useful properties like obliviousness
-- that perfectly solve the problem of private
communications between secret agents.
In this talk, we will see the original construction
of blind signatures and a couple of protocols to
explain their working. In the second part of the
talk, we will focus on the oblivious techniques and
will see how the CIA-agent Alice can make sure that
her private communication with CIA-agent Bob will
not be detected by an unqualified listener. At the
end, we will show our construction of oblivious
techniques to build peer-to-peer oblivious
communities.
