Skip foilhole/gridsquare/grid option

Hey Jonathan,

It would be nice if there could be a skip foilhole/gridsquare/grid option. Sometimes our stage behaves a bit wonky and can't find a proper hole, especially when the target is close to the edge of a gridsquare and this causes the session to halt.

It would be nice that either there is an automated option that skips in these situations as well (much in line as with the dark grid skipping) or just a few buttons like for instance in EPU where you can manually skip a foilhole, gridsquare or even complete grid. Now when an error is thrown, it is still quite hard to continue.

Hi Willem,

Thank you for the feedback. I will work on solving some of these issues. 

I actually pushed a new image to the container repository in hopes of reducing the amounts of halts just a few minutes ago as a beta version (ghcr.io/niehs/smartscope:0.9.1-rc.3). You may want to try it and see if that is already better.

There is already an option to skip to the next grid. Upon restarting a crashed run, it'll automatically move to the next sample. You can press the stop button on the grid report page. This will change the status to aborting and signal SmartScope to move on to the next sample. See the image below:

As for resuming a grid with a failed area, there is a way around it but it's not well implemented at the moment. Here is the documentation about it: https://docs.smartscope.org/api/rest/web_api/#manually-changing-the-status-of-an-area.

I will build a button to achieve the same outcome as these steps in the near future.

Hi Willem,

You may finally skip squares and holes after they begin acquisition (yellow colored in the UI) by selecting the target and selecting skip under the actions dropdown as shown in the attached picture. The area will turn gray and should be skipped at the next checkpoint. This works on a failed area that may have crashed the run. You can skip it and restart the run and the collection will proceed with the next target.

That took a while but finally got to it.
