to SmartComponent Library Announce
Dear user of the SmartComponent Library,

just before Christmas, Progress Software has released service pack 3
for OpenEdge 10.2B. Our tests so far have not indicated any
compatibility issue between this release and the SmartComponent
Library.

Right now the recommended version of OpenEdge for running the
SmartComponent Library is OpenEdge 10.2B, service pack 2 while we
would not stop anybody from running on service pack 3. Customers still
using the SmartComponent Library on OpenEdge 10.2B or 10.2B SP1 should
update as soon as possible to SP2 or SP3 as we have experience major
stability improvements on Progress Software's part in the OpenEdge
Architect Visual Designer.

FYI, the Infragistics Controls have been updated to 9.2.20092.2119,
see http://wiki.dynamics4.net/D4wiki/GUIforNETFacts/UltraControlsVersion
for a list of Infragistics Controls per Progress release / Service
Pack.

Starting service pack 2 we do recommend the usage of the -IOEverywhere
1 startup parameter with SmartComponent Library based applications.
Service Pack 3 fixes an issue with using this parameter for the
OpenEdge Architect project runtime (Bug OE00200394: Startup parameters
-IOEverywhere 1 and -Assemblies mutually exclusive for an OE ARchitect
project. OpenEdge Architect handles only one of the above named
startup parameters. If both startup parameters are added to a project,
then Visual Designer fails to load.). So in SP3 -assemblies and -
IOEverywhere 1 can be used together for the project runtime. Note with
SP2 there is no (known) issue in using these two parameters in
combination for a runtime session.

Kind regards,

Mike Fechner
