Hello team,

I would strongly suggest to use this mailing list in order to discuss
Smart People issues within the team. Try to prevent using the backdoor
e-mail list that is only visible to our team members.

Just remember how we all came together. We used the open discussion
forum on the Smart People development platform on mixxt (http://smart-
people.mixxt.com/). When our discussion about the ongoing development
of Smart people is visible to the public we maybe get some more people
involved.

Just send e-mails to this group via smart-pe...@googlegroups.com

For the future the mixxt platform should stay as central platform to
support the ongoing development of Smart People. So the best would be
to have the team discussion there but there is no such easy way to
communicate to the whole team like we have here. Therefore I suggest
to have the team discussions here and let interested people follow
them on the mixxt platform (Don't bann any lurkers from the mixxt
platform! They maybe become contributers in the future and their
presence does not hurt anybody, right.).

To give people on mixxt the chance to follow our discussion I
integrated the RSS feed on the mixxt platform (http://smart-
people.mixxt.com/ - see sidebar on the right hand side). I will also
add it to the wiki main page.

I gonna take care of the mixxt platform (restructuring, maintainance,
cleaning up, etc.). So my group on XING has to wait or maybe there
will be an other person who is creating a group there (I'm already in
contact with s.o.).

As the mixxt platform is the central development platform you all
should follow what's going on there. This can be done by importing the
RSS feed into your desktop feed reader

RSS: http://smart-people.mixxt.com/api/rss/lifestream

Some of you may prefer to get the updates into your email inbox (like
me) or read it on your online feed reader. For these people I have set
up an feed to email service you can subscribe to on the mixxt main
page or just by using the following link: http://tinyurl.com/qekgjp

First of all I would like to mention that I neither made this group
visible to the public nor that I changed it now to be private.

It was Daniel who created this group. He made it public and that's
good in my view (see my previous message). Btw. Daniel addressed the
open vs closed issue of the group already twice. None of you replied.
So it should be Daniel's decision to keep tis group open or private.

I don't know who changed the status from public to private now because
everyone in the group has admin rights and is able to change the
status, respectively.

As I told perveously to have tis group visible to the public is a
chance rather than a treat ...

What are you afraid of? Someones stealing our ideas? You all know that
having ideas is nothing, without having the people who implement them
in an effective and efficient way. You all know that openness is a
prerequisite of effective collaboration and networking, so if this
group is closed ... Further, just rememer one of the norm of our
readers that we committed to follow:

"Collaboration: Smart People magazine has been developed in
collaboration with social networkers in an open, online worksite. Our
prosumers continue to be our ‘board of directors’." (http://
tinyurl.com/qexfs5)

You all may have talked about these issues in the past, now it is the
time to apply them in practice.

Boris

PS: If this group will continue to be closed this is the last time I
contribute here. I will continue to use the mixxt platform for my
ideas and all kind of stuff I need to explain to you guys (about the
website, network, etc.). If you want to keep track on that you need to
follow what's going on there (as I explained in my latter messsage
here).

I like the "What are you afraid of? Someone stealing our ideas?"...

I would expect that we would want everything 'open' because the KM premise is about 'knowledge sharing' and collaboration.   It would seem that only the 'Admin details' would be isolated for management and control.

To All

(I don't know where I sent my previous message, but this is a P.S.)

I just found that when you click on Members you find some of the
listings (Including John's) contain email addresses. I also see that
everyone on the list is an 'owner'. Therefore, anyone can edit the
content and John could remove his email address if he wishes. If I am
correct, and this group is closed, then I hope John won't mind sharing
his email address with those of us who are members of this core group.
But that's Johns prerogative.

Hi all.

Michele and I are a little confused. Actually, Michele thinks everyone
else is confused :-).

She has run some tests and if you are not a member of the SP Reps
group on Google, you don't get in. If you want to join the SP Reps
group you have to contact the owner. This is true whether you get
there directly or from the Mixxt group.

So I don't see how the group is open to the world or even to the 71
members of the Mixxt group. Which I would oppose. The SP Reps are a
core group where I can share thoughts and fears and (yes) even facts
that would be counter to the messages I would WANT to share with 'just
anyone'. Openness is a wonderful ideal and one I share 99.44 percent.
But I don't think I want to stand on the street corner and shout to
the world that I came back from Houston very discouraged! Which is a
message I will be sending to the SP Reps soon.

As for showing e-addresses, those were shown on the group emails we
were sending all along. John, where do the email addresses appear in
the Google Group messages?

Jerry

P.S. Let's calm down. I'm one who did not respond to Daniel, so I'm
part of the problem. And, please go easy on poor Daniel. I understand
he is immobilized with a bad back. Get well, Daniel. I have three
kinds of bad back and I empathize!

It was pending for approval because you have sent it from an email
address that is not one you're registered here. I approved it (see
below). Btw. You're subscriber twice (see membership area - click on
management tasks in the sidebar)

Why not talking about bad experiences!? Maybe these will open us
future opportunities ... I hate to read all these kind of success case
studies. When I hear good news from a company only, it is suspicious
to me

Sure, we can not share passwords or private data but this is only
00.01%, Jerry:-)

No email address is visible to the public (see my message on Google
groups membership)

Okay Daniel.

I thought I was being tech stupid again. Couldn't remove one of my two
memberships. The smart....@verizon.net is the one that should
remain.
