I saw the twitter/Tia message and was not sure what was happening
there; if I need to do something, could you let me know Boris?
Yesterday I spoke with the Royal Roads student and today I provided
Alan with an update. He is in an unusual program where the projects
are relatively small and limited, but he seems keen to work with us.
Actual writing would run from January-March 2010.
I don't think I have the capacity to write the paper I was thinking
about, but haven't QUITE given up on it yet. Thanks for responding
supportively.
I'll be presenting at the ISSS conference, going to workshops etc. and
will be intermittently thinking of all of you!

Good news is I've talked with Diana Woolis today and we at least set a
tentative month for the joint jam on education involving Smart People
and KPI (Knowledge in the Public Interest. The bad news, it isn't
until January.

I have approached a couple of corporate people about purchasing group
subscriptions at a discount price and I've worked up a draft Discount
Rate Card to use if they're interested.
Group discounts run from $25 per subscriber to $2 per subscriber,
depending on the quantity of subscribers. Here are the group rates:
Subscription rate card
Subscriptions Price Totals Range
1 $50 $50
2-9 $25 $50-225
10-99 $20 $200-1,980
100-999 $15 $1,500-14,985
1,000-4999 $10 $10,000-49,900
5,000-9999 $7 $35,000-69,993
10,000-49,999 $5 $50,000-249,995
50,000-99,999 $3 $150,000-299,997
100,000+ $2 $200,000+
The columns may not line up correctly in this email and so I've
attached the Rate Card as well. However, I don't know if we can use
attachments in this system. I'll soon find out.
I'm not sure how we'll handle group subscriptions, but the ideal would
be to authorize the group subscriber to make the magazine available to
employees within their own system. That way, we won't process each
individual subscription; instead, we'll process one group subscription
which will cut our administrative time and costs.
In a separate email I will send you a template I've created from one
of the solicitation letters I sent.
Please critique both, but in regarding the solicitation letter it
would be more helpful if you would edit and/or rewrite it to show me
exactly how you would improve the pitch. Help from all of you would be
valued, but those of you who are inside a target organization will
have insight on how this solicitation will be received and how it
could be tailored to get better reception.
Your help is critical.
Thanks
Jerry
