Hello Team,

I have reached out to Epic, but also wanted to post my question and understand how it will work in real world.

I am a little confused with EPIC's Appointment $find(STU3) FHIR API, a

This API is performing couple of operation of finding schedule / slots  and EPIC's $find, seems to create placeholder Appointment for every possible slot out there, ahead of time  e.g.

"resource": {
                "resourceType": "Appointment",
                "id": "ehBzuCLSDoZvx46hEv2T3cNMSQWDz8H75b3Jz1RMfIBf.FmB0kaOE15OTkUT1XP7z3",
                "contained": [
                    {
                        "resourceType": "Slot",
                        "id": "eKaxJ2IUFWJ.I3jRHbwBBQ4cFE2Dsma5eVAW4d8N6YsraJVoswZOxah6SImXUFqYTyAUuve0XwFZyd87kZvkFGw3",
                        "schedule": {
                        },
                        "status": "busy-tentative",
                        "start": "2022-07-29T19:15:00Z",
                        "end": "2022-07-29T19:45:00Z"
                    }

In the example above, you can see a placeholder Appointment has been created. Since this is the Appointment reference we are supposed to provide when creating an Appointment i.e. $book,

My question is if we move this to production, pre-booked appointments will not be created in real world, how does Epic suggest to handle or if there is an alternate way to address this use-case?

Thanks
Mithun

This sounds like a question for the Epic support team. https://open.epic.com/Home/Contact has their details.
