Hello I'm a FHIR Developer from South Korea.
These days I have been researching for SMART on FHIR and got curious of App Gallery. I thought App Gallery is a site where developers upload apps and also where users download apps. In other words, it is a public app market.  However, some apps are not available to download and also seem like advertisement.
Therefore, I need your explanation of what App Gallery is.

Thank you in advance

Most of the apps in the gallery are Web apps that run directly in the browser, there is no download - they can be started directly from the gallery. Some apps are mobile (iOS) ones, those need to be installed from the Apple AppStore

Then, what is the purpose of App Gallery ? You mean then it is kind of show window to display what apps are developed ?

Thank you for your reply.

I know the site and tried some apps. But I am curious of the purpose of App Gallery.
Is it to show what kind of apps are developed and to try them ?
I thought it is an application market but some people say it is not. therefore I got confused and writing a question here

Hi Jonggeon,

The App Gallery is just that: a gallery or showcase to show what apps others have built. It is not an app store and there is no requirement that the apps must be available to try or to download. Many of the apps do, however. If you have an app that you want others to see, you too can create a page for it.

Note that we have received funding to further development of the gallery, more to come in the future:

Best,
Pascal

Thank Pascal for your kindness.

Finally, I understand what it is.
