I greatly appreciate your kind invitation to join such an eminent group
of insurance professionals. I feel particularly priveleged as I am not
an ex Winterthur employee although, as a Lloyd's broker, I used to
place a lot of business with the Winterthur!
For those of you who do not know me, I have just joined Lloyd's broker
Dashwood, Brewer & Phipps as a main board Director (subject to FSA
approval). In a personal capacity, I have been involved in capital
raising for insurance companies. My most notable success to date was
PRI Group, which was launced on 26/6/02 (£139m capital raised) as the
largest start up LSE AIM flotation at that time. As you will no doubt
know, after only 8 months trading, PRI was purchased by BRIT through a
hostile takeover. Since that time, I have been involved in several
other capital raising projects, 2 of which are highly likely to come to
fruition in the near future.
