Smart-Insurer AG, Switzerland, parent company of Smart-Insurer
(Australia) Pty Ltd - who won the 2007 Consensus software award for
its product SAVANT® Virtual Insurer - today announced that the
company has entered into an agreement with Hans-Peter Naef who has
agreed to assume the role of
Authorized representative for Smart-Insurer in Asia
based in Hong Kong.
We are extremely pleased that Hans-Peter is joining Smart-Insurer's
international network. Hans-Peter is a well known and well respected
personality in the greater Asian insurance industry. Having him
associated with Smart-Insurer gives us excellent credibility in a
geographical area where long term personal relations and trust are
fundamental ingredients for business success. Hans-Peter has many
years of experience in all facets of the insurance business and
financial services. He has high degree of competence in the
technical aspects of both life and non life insurance and he is an
expert in compliance and regulatory issues. Hans-Peter will be a
competent discussion partner for our clients in Asia and an
invaluable asset in managing our projects locally.
Some background information:
HANS-PETER NAEF is a seasoned professional with over two decades of
general and financial management experience, both in Life and Property
& Casualty Insurance and with more than a decade of proven business
development expertise in North Asia (in particular China and Japan),
South East Asia and Australia / New Zealand.
As Deputy Head of Credit Suisse / Winterthur's regional team and as
its Chief Operating Officer Asia he was responsible for Credit
Suisse's strategic stake in Tai Kang Life. Hans-Peter also acted as
Head Asia for Human Resources, Tax, Legal & Compliance and
Organizational as well as Strategic Developments of the Group. He led
restructuring projects, enhanced Corporate Governance, implemented
Internal Control Systems and made the operational units SOX compliant.
Hans-Peter further rolled out Human Capital Portfolio initiatives,
which reduced turnover significantly and launched LTI / bonus schemes.
In his prior role as Winterthur's CFO Asia, Hans-Peter Naef was in
charge of the financial and administrative management of Winterthur's
four Asian Business units and introduced US-GAAP as part of the Credit
Suisse NYSE listing, streamlined accounting procedures and was leading
M&A and post-completion integration teams in both Japan and Greater
China.
Before that, acting as Area Manager Hans-Peter was responsible for
Winterthur's Non-Life business development in the Asia Pacific Area.
He was an instrumental part of the team that in 1996 successfully
secured an insurance license to operate in the People's Republic of
China, being the first European insurer and the third world wide to
achieve that in the early stages of China's opening to foreign
interests. He also set up an insurance joint venture with an Indian
financial institution in 1997; the Indian partner was one of the few
companies that received an operating license.
Hanspeter holds a law degree from the University of Berne,
Switzerland, a Graduate Diploma of Financial Palnning from the
Financial Services Institute of Australasia (Finsia) and has completed
a Management Course for Senior Executives in the Insurance Industry at
IMEA, University of St.Gallen, Switzerland
